How long have you been playing disc golf? | 12 years |
How did you get your start in disc golf? | I remember I was introduced to the game of disc golf from a friend of mine back when I was in my early teens. I only played briefly, but I still remember buying my first disc, an Innova Cobra. What brought me back to the game was 12 years ago when I was geocaching with some friends and stumbled to a local disc golf course. Picked up some discs at the local disc golf store and I was hooked ever since. |
What do you love most about the sport? | I’m a competitive guy. I’ve played games (Chess and Magic the Gathering) professionally, but something about this game of disc golf that makes me strive to be a better player and person. Disc golf pushes me to continue to improve on all facets of my game. To be the best player that I can be. This allows me to share my passion with others. I love bringing my family and friends and introduce them to the sport. |
What makes disc golf better than the other sports you have played? | All other sports I’ve played, I was always playing against an opponent. In disc golf, you are playing against yourself. Only you can be your worst enemy or continue to push through self-challenges and rise to the occasion. I strive to always do better each time I’m out on the field or on the course. |
How do you approach a new course? | I play the new course with no expectations and make sure that I’m having fun. If it’s a course that I plan to play in an event, I try to take notes and make an assessment by different disc selections and different lines of play. |
What motivates you to continually improve your game? | The desire to be the best player that I can be. I constantly challenge myself to do better by working different areas of my game from putting, upshots or driving. Most importantly, I continue to work on my focus, discipline, and mental game. |
What do you do to stay focused playing in tourneys? | I try to have a short-term memory and focus on each shot that I make while not reflecting on my previous play. |
What’s your most memorable win? | My most memorable win was the Winter at the Bud back in February of 2020. I had excellent first round. But struggling during the second round I was able to persevere at the end, I was able to earn the win with a long 25ft putt. |
What’s your most memorable disc golf moment? | My first ace at Fort Steilacoom - Lakewood, WA. Was with my family at the time and was great to share my excitement with them. |
What are your top three favorite discs? | Innova Star Madison Walker Wraith, Innova Star Christine Jennings Sidewinder, and Innova XT Stud |
What are your top three courses you have played? | Pier Park - Portland, OR, Morley Field - San Diego, CA, and Milo McIver – Estacada, OR |
If you could play any course in the world, which would it be? | Winthrop Gold DGC, Rock Hill, SC home of the United States Disc Golf Championship |
Who is your disc golf hero, and how were you influenced be him or her? | James Conrad. He showed me how much fun it is to drive backhand with putters. The flight of driving a putter where it can so straight or have that beautiful slow turn is a sight to behold. |
Whats in the bag? | Drivers – Innova Star Roadrunner, Star Sidewinder, Star Leopard3, GStar/Star Teebird3, Star Madison Walker Wraith, Star Philo Destroyer, Champion Firebird. Midranges – Discraft Tour Series SOL, Lucid Evidence, Discraft Paige Pierce Buzzz, Lucid Verdict, Lucid Justice. Putters – Innova XT Stud, Innova Star Colt, Innova Star Stud, Innova Star Mirage, Discmania Razor Claw Tactic. |
What non-disc golf hobbies do you have? | Board/Card Games, Skiing and Movies |
Any superstitions you have before or during a round? | No superstitions, just routines on how I prepare and play during a tournament. |
What does #NoBadRounds mean to you? | Every time I go out to the field or play a course, I’m always focused on the positive of what I take away from the round. This allows me to push myself to work harder and to continue work on being a better player. |
What do you love most about your FlighTowel? | They help me get loosened up and keep my discs clean and dry during each round that I play. Since I play all the time, the durability of the each of their products is what I notice the most. One of the best investments I’ve every made. |
