How long have you been playing disc golf? | 10 years |
How did you get your start in disc golf? | Buddy of mine took me out one day and show me this silly game in the woods with some freebies. I was fascinated by the flight of a disc and was instantly hooked! Realizing there was ways to progress in a competitive environment was the icing on the cake! I was hooked! |
What do you love most about the sport? | The flight of the disc. There is not many things more amazing to watch then the flight of a disc thrown through a gap through the woods. Watching just pure the line and flying like its supposed to. It's amazing! |
What makes disc golf better than the other sports you have played? | Disc Golf is about being alone.. together.. casual or serious. It's about being in the middle of the city.. on the course.. so focused in on what you are doing that you forget you are in the city. You forget that just on the other side of that wood line is the interstate. You just lose yourself in it. |
How do you approach a new course? | Playing for even a little bit of time will give you more then enough knowledge to help you step up to a new course for the first time. Break down the holes you have played and put them into what you are about to do. " Oh.. this 300ft turn over is really close to hole 2 at my home course " Combine that with field work to learn how your discs fly.. man you got it made! |
What motivates you to continually improve your game? | #BeBetterThanYesterday is something I've been living by on my social media and in life. I'm always trying to learn that one extra thing or improve that one extra shot to gain the knowledge to teach it to the next person. That moment when I can take what I have learned and teach it to someone and then they do it and I watch their eyes light up! Man.. that is what I'll always push myself! |
What do you do to stay focused playing in tourneys? | This is something I've struggled with. If I am on a card and we are chatting it up and having a good time its easy. You are not thinking about the tournament you are just walking in the woods. When the card gets silent and no one is talking.. that's when it gets tough. You need to start thinking about everything that is NOT disc golf related. The only time you want to focus on the tournament is that moment when you step up to the tee pad to throw your shot. For that 30 seconds you dial it in. After that flip the switch off and move on. If you try to focus the entire time you are going to be drained! |
What’s your most memorable win? | Smackdown 13 in Mobile Alabama! Man.. that was the one that get me out of my " I can't do this " I was in Advanced and I was the only one to shoot under par for the tournament! That step me down the path i'm on now. |
What’s your most memorable disc golf moment? | My sons first ace. We are playing a local doubles round. Its my partner and I an my Son drew cali lol. He steps up to the tee and slings his Trespass down the fairway so perfect. It takes one skip and BANG! 230ft ace.. little bugger made off with 100 + dollars too! That moment I'll never forget. |
What are your top three favorite discs? | Soft Nomad! What an amazing shot shaping putter. Just stable enough to hold whatever line you want. Pyro! Pyro is that overstable but not crazy overstable mid. It’s perfect for those times I can’t throw my hex into the wind. Fireball! The go to overstable fairway. From sidearms to backhands to thumbers to grenades.. it does it all. |
What are your top three courses you have played? | Tobaggan - site of US Am Nats. also the site of Paul McBeths perfect round. Just an amazing course! Tom Brown Disc Golf Course in Tallahassee Florida! 10,000ft of amazing mixture of golf! Hills.. woods.. long bombs.. it's got it all! The Preserve in Foley Alabama. Originally designed by Eric McCabe but then tweaked a little. This course much like Tom Brown offers the perfect mixture of wide open placement shots and wooded technical holes. |
If you could play any course in the world, which would it be? | Nokia DiscGolfPark's European Open layout, nicknamed "The Beast |
Whats in the bag? | A whole lot of molds! From my go to Nomads off the tee and on the green to my overstable Panic that gets me out of all kinds of trouble. |
What non-disc golf hobbies do you have? | There is more then just disc golf?! |
Any superstitions you have before or during a round? | Nope! |
What does #NoBadRounds mean to you? | #NoBadRounds to means taking something away from every round to learn on.. to improve upon. You never give up and you always look at the positives and how to improve on them. |
What do you love most about your FlighTowel? | The ability to warm up without throwing a disc and having to chase it down. It's amazing. |
Is there anything else you would like to add to your Team FlighTowel profile? | Always strive to be better than yesterday! You can't fix it all right away.. if you truly love this sport and want to succeed in it. You are going to have to work for it. That can see so overwhelming but if you just break it down and take it little by little always pushing towards #BeBetterThanYesterday then you will meet your goals in no time and always be progressing and never getting burnt out!
