How long have you been playing disc golf? Year and a half
How did you get your start in disc golf? My wife and I were walking a creek near a disc golf course and found a few discs, called to return them and was told to keep them to start playing! My oldest brother had previously played off and on for a few years and took us for our first round. From there I was hooked!
What do you love most about the sport? The community. Without our community and comradery disc golf wouldn't be half the sport it is today.
What makes disc golf better than the other sports you have played? The players, the people, the diversity of plastic and backgrounds that you can find out on the course.
How do you approach a new course? I simply trust the disc to do it's job! Fieldwork is the most important aspect of competitive play. Proper fieldwork means you can visualize the right disc for nearly any course whether it is new or familiar.
What motivates you to continually improve your game? The people! Covid brought a lot of new disc golfers to the game, me included. The best part about being in Texas is we have Disc Golf year round. This means the competition is always hot and everyone is always down to catch a round to prove it!
What do you do to stay focused playing in tourneys? There are three rules to keeping your head in the game out on the course. 1. Your last shot does not exist 2. Right now is the only thing that matters 3. Focus on par instead of birdie By following those three rules you can lace together seamless rounds with near bogey-less efficiency!
What’s your most memorable win? The first time I ever beat my older brother. After many battles on our home course, nothing could ever beat the feeling of knowing how far I'd progressed since the start of my career.
What’s your most memorable disc golf moment? My first ace! I had just signed two sponsorship deals, Lucky Ace Discs and Lone Star Discs. It just so happened my first "Lucky" Ace was with a Penny Putter, MY Lucky Penny!
What are your top three favorite discs? The Lone Star Disc Middy, Curl, and Penny Putter.
What are your top three courses you have played? Flying Armadillo DGC in San Marcos TX, Cliff Stephens in Clearwater FL, and Daphne Central Park in Daphne, AL.
If you could play any course in the world, which would it be? Maple Hill and Dellwood! One for the prestige and one because I grew up 10 miles from it and never got the chance to play it!
Who is your disc golf hero, and how were you influenced be him or her? Eric Oakley, he's a character who knows how to have a good time while enjoying the sport with others. Always charismatic and awesome on the other side of the camera is a hard thing to do unless you are a natural.
Whats in the bag? Lone Star Discs, All of them!
What non-disc golf hobbies do you have? When I have the free time between juggling content creation and my busy work life I play video games. I grew up in a video game household and still have one to this day.
Any superstitions you have before or during a round? YES, I have to have food in my bag at all times. I've found that once I start to get hungry I lose the will to keep fighting.
What does #NoBadRounds mean to you? Always have fun no matter the circumstance! Rain, wind, sunshine it's all the same if you are enjoying yourself and keeping in good company.
What do you love most about your FlighTowel? The innovation, superb quality, and utility. I believe in functionality over anything. The fact that FlighTowel has form AND function makes it that much better!
