How long have you been playing disc golf? |
2 years casually, but 1 year competitively |
How did you get your start in disc golf? |
There is a course near our house, and I saw some people playing. I went out there a few days later with an ultimate lid and a disc golfer immediately gave me an Aviar. I still have that disc and it means so much to me. My mom discovered our local Music City Disc Golf bag tag tournaments in February of 2021, and I signed up for my first one. I was immediately hooked. I then started playing PDGA sanctioned events in August of 2021. |
What do you love most about the sport? |
I love the disc golf community, the competitiveness, and I love to see a disc fly. |
What makes disc golf better than the other sports you have played? |
Between both my school and travel teams, I have always played baseball year-round. While I really love the team atmosphere and the support I receive from my teammates, the independence I experience with disc golf is a nice change. The outcome (both good and bad) is all on me and my accountability is at an all-time high. I have also really loved the sport's relationship with the outdoors. Some of the disc golf courses I have played are really beautiful. |
How do you approach a new course? |
I try and be as familiar with my discs and what they can do for every situation and that comes from putting in a lot of time doing field work. It's always great to be able to do a practice round before a tournament, but I'm not always able to do that, so having trust in your bag is key. |
What motivates you to continually improve your game? |
When I go out to practice, it doesn't feel like work because I love it so much. And when I see that I am making improvements, it makes me want to play even more. |
What do you do to stay focused playing in tourneys? |
When I get in my head and get frustrated, I try and listen to music to calm my nerves. I try and focus on one shot at a time and staying in the present. When I get ahead of myself, I try and just breathe and stay clear. |
What’s your most memorable win? |
My most memorable win was the first time I signed up for a local bag tag tournament. I was really nervous not knowing what to expect and ending with a win felt so great. It was the start of everything. |
What’s your most memorable disc golf moment? |
I got to hold the scoreboard for the final round of the lead card at the Music City Open in 2021. Seeing Ricky Wysocki, Chris Dickerson, Adam Hammes, and Mason Ford battle an exciting final round was awesome. A bonus was when things got backed up and I also got to see Paul McBeth, Garrett Gurthie, and others on the chase card up close. I learned so much that day about competition on the highest level. I'll never forget it. |
What are your top three favorite discs? |
My top three favorite discs are: 1. Dynamic Discs Trespass for max distance shots that slowly turn but come back at the end to give me consistent results. 2. Latitude 64 Royal Faith. This is a recent discovery of mine and has become my go to putting putter. 3. Dynamic Discs Warden. I have one that is more beat up and goes straight to a little under stable, and then I have a newer one that is a bit more over stable. I love these discs and won't play without them. |
What are your top three courses you have played? |
My top three courses are Oggwood Private Disc Golf Course, Cedar Hill, and White House all in and around Nashville, TN. Oggwood is by far my favorite course I have played so far. It's a must visit. |
If you could play any course in the world, which would it be? |
I really want to play Maple Hill one day. |
Who is your disc golf hero, and how were you influenced be him or her? |
My disc golf hero is Paul McBeth. I like his attitude on the course and his determination to win. He also does a lot of charitable work. I look up to a lot of local Nashville players like Logan Bowers as well. I also really look up to and appreciate the advice of Wil McKaskle of Team Dynamic Discs. If it weren't for him, I wouldn't be playing disc golf at this level so quickly. |
Whats in the bag? |
I throw mostly Dynamic Discs and I have been trying to convert my bag to be exclusively DD, but I also really love Innova Pigs. The Pig is such a perfect disc. |
What non-disc golf hobbies do you have? |
I also play travel baseball year-round and school basketball as well. |
Any superstitions you have before or during a round? |
I like to stay pretty quiet and listen to music while traveling to the course. I try and get there at least an hour before the round begins so I can warm up / get signed in and clear my head. |
What does #NoBadRounds mean to you? |
If you have a bad shot, the only way to fix it is what you do going forward. The past is the past. There are no bad rounds as long as you grow from your mistakes. |
What do you love most about your FlighTowel? |
It's such a great warm up tool before and during rounds when things slow down. The towels are also super high quality and keep your discs dry really well. |
