How long have you been playing disc golf? |
On and off until recently but I first played in '93. |
How did you get your start in disc golf? |
There used to be a course on a college campus in Ft. Collins, CO and I'd play about 3-4 times a week. |
What do you love most about the sport? |
I love that it's an individual sport (me vs the course) yet I can also play with friends. I love that I can be outside in any weather and get some exercise and enjoy nature. |
What makes disc golf better than the other sports you have played? |
I feel my mind set from disc golf has also helped me in daily life. Sometimes bad things happen but the more I can stay positive and keep moving forward the better I feel. |
How do you approach a new course? |
I try to find what I feel the go to route is and then think about what disc I'll throw. Then I try to find a route that may be unconventional and what disc would match that. If I can, I throw and play off the first route and then throw the second route. Afterwards I evaluate what would have the highest reward vs risk if I was playing in a tournament. |
What motivates you to continually improve your game? |
Playing a round with a high score motivates me. When I find areas where I can improve then I'm motivated to do so. |
What do you do to stay focused playing in tourneys? |
Deep breaths and staying hydrated mostly. I rarely where headphones but sometimes I listen to a bit of music in between holes if I feel I need a reset. |
What’s your most memorable win? |
I've not yet won a tournament so I'd say being invited to Team FlighTowel would be my "win". |
What’s your most memorable disc golf moment? |
It has to be the funny moment playing a course in North Bonneville, WA on a very windy day. There was a strong headwind and my tee shot (RHBH) went forward about 30 feet before getting turned over and landing about 100 feet to my right and BEHIND the tee pad. |
What are your top three favorite discs? |
Discraft Nuke SS, 150 Flick, and a Soft Magnet. The last 2 for sentimental reasons as I my son colored on them when he was maybe 3-4 with a Sharpie and the markings are still on them. ❤️ |
What are your top three courses you have played? |
Whistler's Bend in Oregon, High Bridge in WI, Buxton Woods in Oregon. |
If you could play any course in the world, which would it be? |
I'm not sure but it would be in Finland, Sweden, or New Zealand!! |
Who is your disc golf hero, and how were you influenced be him or her? |
I don't know if I have a hero but if I could join a random card of Pros it would probably feature Sarah Hokum, Kevin Jones, Michelle Frazer, and Luke Humphries. This is just from tournament coverage and they all seem pretty chill. |
Whats in the bag? |
A majority of what I throw is by Discraft mostly because years ago my buddies and I would split misprint boxes and I found a lot of what I love from there. Lots of variants of the Buzzz. |
What non-disc golf hobbies do you have? |
I dj and make beats! ate21.bandcamp.com I also roast my own coffee beans and hope to one day start my own coffee roasting business. |
Any superstitions you have before or during a round? |
No. |
What does #NoBadRounds mean to you? |
It means even if my score is horrible I walk away from the course having had a lot of fun and enjoying myself and the company of whomever I played with. |
What do you love most about your FlighTowel? |
The fob. I picked it out based on what I throw, it fits in my pocket nicely or can be looped under my belt when wearing rain pants, and my name and number are on it in case I ever drop it. I can also practice just about anywhere with it as long as I have a tee pads worth of floor space (it rains a lot here in Oregon and during my work week I can practice in my living room!). |
Is there anything else you would like to add to your Team FlighTowel profile? |
I'm a proud Father and I love my son very much! |
